Bruce Irvin - Seattle Seahawks Big Gamble

The Seattle Seahawks made Bruce Irvin their 1st round pick (#15) of the 2012 NFL Draft and then they had to be crossing their fingers hoping it will work out for the best. You see, young Mr. Irvin has a bit of a checkered history of being a THUG. Five years ago, Bruce Irvin was arrested for breaking into a drug dealer's house and spent two weeks in prison. Last month, he was accused of knocking over a magnetic sign that was sitting atop a Pita Pit delivery car and was arrested again.

Do they think Bruce will become a model citizen? Perhaps he will, but I would be willing to put a paycheck on Irvin being another in a growing list of IDIOT pro athletes who get paid big money and then go out and do moronic things. Pacman Jones comes to mind...IDIOT....Titans WR Kenny Britt is arrested for eluding police...IDIOT....Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib is arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.....IDIOT. I could go on and on with these THUGS, but you can go to Backseat Fan's blog about these IDIOTS to see a list from just 2011.

OK, maybe Mr. Irvin has seen the light and will become a man his mamma could be proud of (by the way she kicked him out of her home after some of his IDIOT crimes), but I have my doubts. Still, wasting a number one pick is a huge roll of the dice. Pete Carroll had better hope this pick works out or it may be back to the college ranks for him.

Tiger Woods - Spoiled Pro Athlete

Tiger Woods. Oh the great Tiger Woods. What a great example of how NOT TO CONDUCT YOURSELF AT A GOLF TOURNAMENT (especially the MASTERS). I've always heard that a Professional Golf Player should conduct himself like a GENTLEMAN, but Tiger was far from that yesterday during the second round of the 2012 Masters. Kicking his club after a poor tee shot on number 16 was like something an unruly child would do, not a Touring PGA Professional trying to set examples for the younger generation.

The PGA or especially the board of the Augusta National should ban Tiger for a year and open up a spot for a true professional like Ernie Els, who just fell short of qualifying for the 2012 Masters.

I for one am sick of all the Tiger exposure especially when he acts like a spoiled brat!! He feels he is above the game.

One just has to look at how Arnold Palmer always carried himself at a golf tournament or Tiger's playing partner yesterday Miguel A. Jimenez to see how one should conduct themselves in a tournament.

How would pro athletes feel if the money crunch hit them??

Money - that is what makes the world go around! At least that is what 99% of the professional athletes think. How much more money can I make? How can I become the highest paid athlete in my profession, or my position, or my league????

Since the economy fell off the planet several years ago, average Joe has found it hard to not only get by, but to have a job at all. Many of the jobs available today pay minimum salaries. Could Kobe or Sabathia get by on $7 0r $8 dollars an hour doing WORK?? Yeah, I don't think so either. They PLAY a game for absurd amounts of money and they all seem to only want more and more and more as the franchises and leagues (not to mention the poor slob of a fan) suffer through strikes and lockouts!

I don't mind mentioning that I grew up in the 50's and 60's where the professional ball players made great money, but most played for the love of the sport and not how much money they could make! Al Kaline, first ballot hall of fame outfielder for the Detroit Tigers once during his negotiations asked for less money for the following year because he felt he just went through an off year and did not deserve more money. When is the last time you heard a pro athlete say something like that???

I cannot tell you how freaking crazy I get when I hear stats like the following (based on Alex Rodriquez's 2011 season)

Can you tell me it is worth that much to the DAMN Yankees to have a fellow earn $1.7 Million per home run? NO WONDER TEAMS AND LEAGUES ARE GOING BROKE.

OK, I get it that these players are also "entertainers", but $1 Million should be top money for any athlete, any sport!! If they want more money, do it by selling ads to corporate America, World etc!!!

Greed in pro sports

Greed seems to be the common denominator for most pro sports players, owners and leagues. There are some exceptions. After the recent earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan, several pro athletes/teams (mostly of Japanese ancestry) such as Ichiro Suzaki of the Seattle Mariners ($1.24 Mil), Ryuji Imada, a pro golfer will donate $1,000 per birdie he makes in this week's Transitions Championship and the NY Yankee organization ($100,000).

With the millions that most pro athletes make, all of them could afford a token donation (it would be a tax write-off anyway) of say 5% of their 2011 salary. Based on the salaries that MLB paid their players in 2010, that would make a wonderful donation of roughly $135 Million to the relief effort. I believe if all pro sports followed some kind of formula similar to this a sizable amount of money could be raised to truly help the devastated people of Japan.

Come on Bradley, grow up

I knew when the Chicago Cubs signed Milton Bradley to a $30 million deal for three years it was a mistake. Eighteen at bats into his Cub career, Bradley is supended for two games for bumping into umpire Larry Vanover for calling him out on a close pitch. I was taught to swing at anything close when having two strikes, and with a 1 for 18 (.055) season going, what could it hurt to actually swing at a pitch? Who knows he might have gotten a hit. I was also taught not to argue strikes with an umpire as it is a losing cause where nothing good can come of it.

If the Cubs are smart, they should entertain any offers for a trade to lose this albatross before he can cause nay more trouble. He has a long and sorry record of being a hothead.

On September 23, 2007, Bradley tore his right ACL while being restrained by Padres manager Bud Black during an altercation with first base umpire Mike Winters. After Bradley reached first base, he questioned Winters about the alleged bat throwing and subsequent communication with Brian Runge. According to Bradley and Padres first base coach Bobby Meacham, Winters used a profanity towards Bradley. Bradley then moved towards Winters. While restrained by Black, Bradley fell to the ground resulting in the injury. He missed the last week of the regular season in 2007, during which the Padres relinquished their division lead, ultimately losing to the eventual N.L. Champion Colorado Rockies in a one game playoff.

Winters was suspended for the remainder of the season and disqualified from the postseason for the incident, after MLB determined that he indeed directed obscene language toward Bradley. Bradley was not suspended, the MLB reasoning that there was no need since he didn't make physical contact with Winters.

In 2008 according to The Dallas Morning News Bradley attempted to confront KC Royals television announcer Ryan Lefebvre in the press box following a game due to what he believed were unfair comments made on the air. Manager Ron Washington and GM Jon Daniels chased after him and stopped Bradley before he got to Lefebvre, at which point Bradley returned to the clubhouse in tears and said

"All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had, that's it," Bradley said to a quiet clubhouse. "I love all you guys. ... I'm strong, but I'm not that strong."

Daniels said that Bradley was upset that someone that didn't know him was passing judgments about him.

Cut him, trade him retire him, anything it takes to get him off of the Cub roster. They have enough bad joo-joo in their history without this clown.

Plaxico, Plaxico, Plaxico

Man, this one really boils my mind!!! How in the hell can the NFL justify that Plaxico deserves a million dollar roster bonus after he shot himself in the leg causing the caustic wide reciever to miss the final four games of the 2008 season and hurting the Giants in their playoff run? I don't so much blame the NFL, but what the hell was the arbitrator Stephen Burbank thinking?? He decided that the Giants owe Plaxico the $1 million plus an undisclosed amount for the 2008 roster bonus.

The NFL, in a statement released by league spokesman Greg Aiello, disagreed with the ruling, saying it incorrectly interprets the league's current collective bargaining agreement with players. Burbank failed to take into account provisions in Plaxico's contract stating that a portion of their bonuses would be repaid "if the player was unable to perform due to his own misconduct," the statement said. If it wasn't Plaxico's fault for shooting himself in his leg, who the hell was at fault???? Pure BS!!!

Giant's president and CEO, John Mara said, "to think that a player could carry a loaded gun into a nightclub, shoot himself and miss the rest of the season but get to keep his entire signing bonus illustrates one of the serious flaws in the current system."

Fix this joke NFL. Regular Joe's like myself could never be lucky enough to win an arbitration in our real world job if we did somehting as stupid as Plaxico.

To further show Plaxico's outlaw mentality, on March 18th he was pulled over for speeding in Broward County on Interstate 95 near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Deputy Sheriff Donald Harris pulled Burress over around 10:30 a.m. and opened the door of Burress' black 2008 Toyota Sequoia when the officer couldn't see inside the player's SUV.

Officer Harris was met with "[Expletive] you," Burress said, according to the New York Post. "You can't open my [expletive] door."

Burress, who the police report said was driving like "he was going to kill somebody," was issued a $150 speeding citation, his fifth traffic ticket in Florida in the past month, the report said. How in the world can he still be allowed to drive?

Burress was asked to get out of his vehicle so the car could be checked for weapons. He responded with, "you're going to hear about this by the end of your shift."

His pervious tickets were for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, improper tags, improper lane change and improper window tinting.

It's obvious to any person with any common sense at all that Plaxico is an OUTLAW and deserves to go to jail for a long time. He is due to go to court on his gun possession case on June 15th. Knowing how the court system treats celebrities though, I bet they pat him on his wrist and turn him loose to do more stupid things.

Crybaby Cutler gets his wish

Jay Cutler (from this point on known as Crybaby) got his wish and was traded to the Chicago Bears today. In a trade on Thursday afternoon, the Bears gave up quarterback Kyle Orton and first-round picks in 2009 (18th overall) and 2010, along with a third-round pick (84th overall) in 2009 to do it. To complete the trade, the Broncos had to give back a fifth-round pick (140th overall) in 2009. That pick was acquired by the Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade for wide receiver Keary Colbert.

Looking at this from a pure stat standpoint, Crybaby outshines Orton, but Orton has been a winner during his four years as the on-again off-again QB racking up a 21-11 record as a starter. Crybaby on the otherhand has a lackluster 17-20 record as the Bronco starter. Orton does not have Crybaby's arm, but he does make good choices and plays to his potential, not throwing games away (i.e. Rex Grossman).

I can't wait until Crybaby acts up on the Bears sideline. Brian Urlacher, the brawny middle linebacker for the Bears was less than excited to hear about this trade. He said, "I guess the Bears felt like we needed another quarterback, so they made a move. They gave up a lot. Cutler must be pretty good."

"I guess we got better as a team. You get a quarterback who is a Pro Bowl guy. But I will say this: I think Kyle Orton is a good quarterback. He's a great teammate. I hope he does really well in Denver."

I don't think Urlacher will tolerate some over-rated loadmouth Crybaby crying on the sideline.

T.O. too good to practice with new team!

Terrell Owens did not take long to show his selfishness. After being picked up by the Buffalo Bills on March 7, Terrell showed his true colors and opted out of the "voluntary offseason conditioning program". We all know that Terrell is in great shape, but this was a chance for "I Love Myself" Owens to get to know some of his new team mates. He could use some time with his new quarterback Trent Edwards, "buttering him" up if you will.

Personally I hope the over-hyped Owens falls flat on his face with the Bills this year. I do like the Bills and hope the rest of the team does well, but as for Owens himself, literally BREAK A LEG.
